Measurement and modelling of association in multiway contingency tables

Lecturer Tamás Rudas

PC Sessions Renáta Németh

Spring Seminar, Zentralarchiv für Empirische Sozialforschung, Universität zu Köln

24–28 march, 2003

Aim

The aim of the PC sessions is to present the applications of the methods and concepts taught during the lectures. Students attending the practical will be able to apply these methods as a routine job. The applications will imitate real social science research situations. A special emphasis will be put on the interpretation of the results. Such everyday but rarely mentioned problems of survey practice as defining categories, the impact of collapsing categories, dealing with empty cells will be also discussed during the practical.

Software

Latest versions of SPSS and Excel will be used. One of the objectives of the practical is to introduce the students into SPSS categorical data procedures.
